The rapper Jay-Z once sang, “If you grew up with holes in your zapatos, you'd celebrate the minute you was having dough.” For some kids, this isn’t just a lyric—it’s a daily reality. Many children can’t afford basics like a full school uniform, proper shoes, or other essentials.  

While their parents may scrape by and manage to pay school fees, they often can’t afford the extras: sturdy shoes, complete uniforms, and essential supplies. This can lead to children feeling out of place or even missing school altogether.  

That’s where VAN steps in. We cover these additional costs, giving children the essentials they need to attend school with pride and confidence. A new pair of shoes, a complete uniform, or a simple school bag may seem small, but for these children, it’s the push they need to take the first steps toward a brighter future—for themselves and their families.
